Roanoke, VA – January 17, 2025 –Veracity is pleased to announce Capital City Public Charter School (CCPCS) has selected Veracity’s Technology Management System (TMS) to enhance its cyber security plan with data privacy and data user tracking. Established in 2000, Capital City is an award-winning public charter school in Washington, D.C., founded by parents and teachers, serving 1,029 students.
In his ongoing quest to maintain best in class security controls, CCPCS’s Chief Technology Officer Chip Chase has turned to Veracity’s Technology Management System to assist with cybersecurity measures. Tasks including permissions management have become a cumbersome nightmare for Chase as he works to comply with increasingly complex cybersecurity measures to ensure student data is protected and cyber liability insurance premiums are as low as possible.
Ransomware attacks cost U.S. schools billions in downtime and recovery each year. As a part of CCPCS’s cybersecurity strategy, Chase has tracked resources, roles, system administrators, and data users for every edtech product in the portfolio. This endeavor has proven difficult in spreadsheets and Chase plans to centralize this data in Veracity’s TMS for efficiency, scalability, and a renewed focus on limiting risk and vulnerabilities.
“Cyber liability insurance requirements are becoming increasingly strict and granular, while the task of tracking much more complex,” explained Chase. “I’m looking forward to bringing this data into the same system that will help us catalog, vet, and communicate approved edtech purchases.”
“Cybersecurity and data privacy remain the top priority for CTOs in K-12 education. Veracity’s TMS maximizes technology staff’s time, so they can focus efforts where they matter most. In addition, it builds awareness around safe practices, approved tools, and privacy policies with every stakeholder including teachers, students, and parents,” commented Amy Dornton, Veracity’s Chief Revenue Officer.
CCPCS, located in Washington, D.C., joins many Virginia schools and districts elevating its technology management – including Roanoke City, Brunswick County, Frederick County, and Colonial Heights.
