Roanoke, VA – September 20, 2024 –Veracity is pleased to announce Laredo College (Laredo) has selected Veracity’s Technology Management SystemTM (TMS) to support ongoing initiatives to improve the overall health of educational technology (edtech) management and investments. Serving more than 10,000 students each semester, across two campuses, Laredo College joins as the first higher-ed among many Texas institutions choosing Veracity.
Under Dr. Elizabeth Rodriquez’s direction, the Academic Innovation and Technology Team set out to build a Technology Advisory Council to help manage and properly advise staff regarding edtech investments, but the lack of a centralized system has been an impediment.
“With each department encompassing its own budget and purchasing authority, monitoring technology purchases and overall adoption has been a challenge,” explained Alicia Reed, Laredo’s eLearning Director. “Multiple departments buying licenses of the same product(s), with no insight into other departments’ edtech portfolio or spending, contributes to less-than-optimal contract negotiations, as well as a drain on budget and operations,” Reed added.
Veracity’s Technology Management System will provide the centralization and collaboration Laredo College has been seeking for cataloging and communicating edtech products purchased and approved for use, tracking license counts and attributing costs by department, and gaining insight into – and notification of – upcoming contract renewals. Reed and team also plan to upgrade the current technology approval process with the automated workflow features in Veracity’s TMS, eliminating manual and “forced” procedures the team has strived to improve.
“The challenges that exist today within any institution’s digital ecosystem, including onboarding, adopting, and supporting a vast array of applications, are consistent in both K-12 and higher education. We’re eager to see other institutions bringing these types of innovative practices into their operations and strategic plans,” concluded Veracity Chief Revenue Officer Amy Robertson Dornton.
