Roanoke, VA – December 15, 2023 – Veracity is pleased to announce Octorara Area School District (OASD) has chosen Veracity’s Technology Management SystemTM (TMS) to support OASD’s vision of maximizing every learner’s opportunity for success.
OASD’s established priorities and strategies defined in its comprehensive plan through 2024 highlight educational technology integration (“increasing collaboration among C&I, IT, and Ed Tech Specialists to leverage technology in a way that transforms teaching and learning to support student-centered classrooms and 21st century skills”) and fiscal stewardship (“strategic and targeted use of funding and resources that support the districts comprehensive planning goals”), among others.
OASD’s new business manager, Scott Domowicz, quickly recognized the opportunity to reinforce the plans in motion with Veracity’s TMS and introduced the solution to his instruction and technology peers.
“The team is eager to gain an understanding of which edtech investments we’re maximizing and those we are not. We all want to be good stewards of our budget, time, and resources,” stated Mr. Domowicz.
Technology Integration Specialist, Dr. Chris Shultz, shared “Last year, we spent $25,000 on a full district license of [a popular web app teachers use to create multimedia presentations], but we only had 8 teachers using it effectively. We need to ‘trim the fat’ and utilize technology to follow our north star of student-centered learning. Veracity’s Technology Management System will support us in our ‘less is more’ journey so we can focus on curriculum driving technology, not vice-versa.”
Veracity’s TMS will empower the Octorara team with a centralized system for overseeing and creating awareness around purchased and approved technologies and – more importantly – provide the leadership team insight into technology investments and processes for eliminating redundancies and waste.
“The ultimate goal is to eliminate ‘rogue’ app downloads or purchases and identify redundancies in the technology portfolio so we can minimize waste and reinvest in areas such as hardware. Contract Management in the TMS will give us insight into these redundancies but also make the appropriate stakeholders aware when contracts are pending renewal, so we can collectively make data-driven decisions,” concluded Rob Czetli, OASD Director of Technology.
